MAP/MODE ROTATION

OK, the purpose of this discussion thread is to try out some new mode/map rotations on the COD4 server.

Right now it is set up on Sabotage (Which seems popular) and Hardcore. I think we like the Hardcore.

BUT, we can choose to change modes every few maps, or run through the whole list in one mode, then change to another, or leave her alone.

Here is the current Map Rotation that I'm trying out.

    dm = Free for all
    Dom = Capture flag
    koth = headquarters
    sab = plant the bomb (either side)
    sd = plant the bomb but die and no respawn (attacker vs defender)
    war = team deathmatch

Here is the =alAmo= UBER rotation:
The rotation is designed to vary the mode every 4-5 maps. The indicator that the mode is going to change is when you play mp_crash_snow. (The funny crash map with the presents and santa bombing you).
I tried to translate what the map is called in the server compared to what you will see in game.

The Server crashed when I tried to run this HUGE map rotation. I put in a support ticket and waited. They asked me if the server ran with a smaller rotation and I changed it back to just "dm" and it did work. I asked them to tell me why this was so. Here's how they replied from Gameservers.com

Dear Customer,

Ticket WGL-87936 has been updated by Beau Young [staff].

I could not find official info on it, but I did find an unofficial source recommending to keep the number of maps in the maplist at 34 or less. It may be a limitation of the game. To confirm or bust this statement, you can try adjusting your map rotation to 34 maps. If the server works, add one more map to the rotation at a time until the server stops coming up on a restart.


While it took them several hours to get back to me when the server was down, I am truely impressed that they stuck with this issue and gave us a solution. (Compare that to FPS gameservers in the DOD forum Support Tickets). I recommend we re-host with these guys.
